Young Sherlock, the Prime Video series that’s like Wicked for Sherlock Holmes, dropped a kinetic first season in early March. Are we going to see more of Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Dónal Finn as Sherlock and Moriarty, respectively? Please? Here’s what we know about Young Sherlock season 2.

So, has Young Sherlock been renewed for season 2 yet?

Amazon Prime Video has not yet renewed the series for a second season. Watch this space! The writing and producing team, according to Deadline, are in the early stages of developing the second season even though they haven’t officially been given a go. “It is absolutely designed to be a multi-season show,” said executive producer Simon Maxwell.

What will Young Sherlock season 2 be about?

With a central character like Sherlock Holmes, you can do so many things. The source material is rich. There are a ton of characters from the books and stories that the show can introduce in later seasons. While I doubt it’s time for this particular Sherlock to meet Watson… you never know! Plus, the reveals in the Young Sherlock season 1 finale about Sherlock and Mycroft’s sister Beatrice and Mycroft taking a step towards his nemesis destiny set up plenty of interesting stories for season 2.

When will we get Young Sherlock season 2 if it happens?

Since it still hasn’t been officially greenlit, it may take a while. It’s hard to tell with Prime Video, to be honest. Scarpetta, a recent show on the platform, got an early renewal and is both already filming and expected to return in a year. But Citadel, which premiered in 2023, won’t return until later this year. We Were Liars was renewed for a second season in 2025, but has not started filming yet. See what I mean? They’re all over the place.

There is some good news. As far as Prime Video original series goes, this certainly isn’t as high budget as The Boys, The Rings of Power, or Fallout. If the show gets renewed, there won’t be an extended amount of post production.
